Terms of Service
Who you are dealing with
PlateScan is provided by Ali Maclean Consulting - FZCO, a company registered in the United Arab Emirates ("we", "us"). By using PlateScan you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the app.
Who can use PlateScan
You must be at least 13 years old. You are responsible for the accuracy of the information you enter and for keeping your account secure. One account per person; do not share sign-in access.
Not medical advice
PlateScan gives estimated nutrition information and general guidance only. Calorie and macro figures from photos, barcodes, labels and descriptions are estimates and can be wrong. PlateScan is not a substitute for advice from a doctor, dietitian or other health professional, and is not intended to diagnose, treat or prevent any condition. Do not rely on it if you have an eating disorder, are pregnant, or have a medical condition affecting diet without professional advice.
Subscriptions
Some features need PlateScan Premium. Subscriptions are sold through Apple’s App Store (or Google Play) and are billed to your store account. The price, billing period and any free trial are shown before you subscribe. A subscription renews automatically at the same price unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current period; a free trial converts to a paid subscription unless cancelled before it ends. Manage or cancel in your device’s subscription settings; refunds are handled by Apple or Google under their policies. Restore Purchases is available in the app.
Your content
Photos, voice notes and text you submit stay yours. You give us permission to process them to provide the service (including sending them to our AI provider, as described in the Privacy Policy). Do not submit content that is unlawful or that you have no right to use.
Acceptable use
Do not misuse the app: no attempts to access other accounts, disrupt the service, extract data automatically, or use it for anything unlawful. We may suspend accounts that do.
Availability and changes
We work to keep PlateScan available but do not guarantee it will be uninterrupted or error-free. We may change or withdraw features. We may update these terms; if a change matters we will tell you in the app, and continued use after the change means you accept it.
Liability
To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, or for decisions you make based on nutrition estimates. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, including your statutory rights as a consumer where you live.
Ending your account
You can delete your account at any time in Settings → Delete account; this permanently removes your data as described in the Privacy Policy. Deleting the app does not cancel a subscription — cancel it in your store settings.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the United Arab Emirates, except that if you are a consumer in the UK or EU you keep the protection of the mandatory laws of the country where you live.
